A Chinese woman, who wore make-up every single day for 22 years, has shared the shocking results. She admitted she never properly removed it, which led to serious skin issues.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), 37-year-old Niuyoumian from China’s Jilin province experienced a severe allergic reaction after wearing makeup daily for over two decades without properly removing it.
In a video, her face appeared visibly inflamed, with redness, swelling, and rashes—all signs of a chronic skin allergy. She explained that her condition was known as “hormone face,” a result of prolonged exposure to cosmetic products and skin neglect.
With nearly 30,000 followers on social media, her story quickly spread online, sparking concern and discussion about the importance of proper skincare and makeup removal.
Reportedly, Niuyoumian shared that she started wearing makeup at 15 and kept using it daily for 22 years without a break. Her skin problems began even earlier, at age 14, after using an acne cream that didn’t suit her and caused a bad reaction.
Coming from a modest background, she used low-cost liquid foundations, which she believes made her skin condition worse over time.
Also, working in the beauty and hairdressing industry, Niuyoumian was often exposed to strong chemicals. Wearing makeup all the time also took a serious toll on her skin.
In 2011, she started getting facial injections to improve her appearance, but instead of helping, the treatments made things worse and caused more damage to her face. She admitted that she didn’t fully understand how serious hormone-related skin problems could be when she was younger.
“Before I turned 25, I didn’t realise how serious hormone skin issues could be. I thought a little redness or itchiness could be resolved with some ointment. But after 25, everything changed,” she told SCMP.
As per reports, Niuyoumian also shared that she has been diagnosed with rosacea and Demodex mite infestations. “At its worst, the rash feels like thousands of tiny ants crawling on my face,” she said.
She explained that her struggle wasn’t just about the physical discomfort but also her tendency to change skincare products too often. “I never fully committed to healing my skin,” she confessed.
At the end of her video, Niuyoumian shared a sincere message for others dealing with similar skin problems. “Being impatient only exacerbated the situation. Don’t blindly try every beauty product just because someone else claims it works,” she urged.
Niuyoumian’s story has reportedly started conversations online, with many people discussing her condition and the dangers of long-term makeup use without proper care.
