Smriti Irani’s transformation from a much-loved television actress to a powerful Union Minister is marked by resilience and purpose. In a candid conversation with Karan Johar on Mojo Story, she revealed the personal motivation she calls her “Agneepath moment” that shaped her remarkable journey.
When asked which song best represents her life, Smriti said it changed from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Agneepath. She explained, “I am avenging possibly every kid who never had an opportunity to equally compete. Agneepath, the original version, was about a son who was trying to fulfil his mother’s desire.”
She also shared a heartfelt memory about her mother. “The gore and glory was all about that the son thought that his mother has faced injustice, and I always felt that for my own mother. My mother was made to leave home when I was 7 because she could not have a son. So for me, that was my Agneepath, to get my mother back and give a roof over her head.”
Meanwhile, Smirit Irani’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which is counted among one of the most successful Indian soap operas of all time, is making a return with season 2. Some old cast of the series have also been reprising their roles after almost 17 years since the last episode of season 1 was aired. Amar Upadhyay, who is set to return as Mihir Virani, opposite Smriti Irani’s Tulsi Virani, has opened up on when it’s likely to go on air.
But, looks like, fans eagerly waiting for the return of the iconic TV show will have to be patient a little longer. According to a source speaking to Hindustan Times, the much-anticipated launch originally set for July 3, 2025, has been postponed due to changes being made to the set.
Amar Upadhayay confirmed this to HT, explaining the reason behind the delay. “Yes, it’s true. The set had to be reworked. Apparently, the color combination on screen wasn’t translating the way it should. Ektaa knows exactly what she wants—she’s a perfectionist. And this is Kyunki… it’s not just another show. It’s a legacy and she wants to do everything what’s best for the show.”
Produced under the banner of Balaji Telefilms, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aired on Star Plus from July 3, 2000, to November 6, 2008.
