A video showing a swimming pool’s floor collapsing and draining in seconds has gone viral on social media. The shocking footage has sparked fear and debate online, with many users calling it a new reason to be “paranoid.”
The CCTV clip, originally recorded in 2021, shows a large swimming pool being used when its floor gives way without warning. Within seconds, all the water drains out.
It later turned out that the pool was built above a garage. The collapse flooded the garage instantly. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident.
The exact location of the incident remains unknown and the authenticity of the post could not be confirmed. The video was shared on Reddit by a user named leandroas. Since then, it has gathered over 115,000 views and dozens of comments.
“Swimming pool collapsing,” read the caption of the video post.
One Reddit user commented, “That’s cool only because no one got hurt.” Another wrote, “I’m always afraid of this happening to my bathtub.” A third added, “Construction standards keep getting watered down.”
One particular comment raised concerns about the construction quality. “Not able to see a single rebar when the slab collapsed (assuming it’s RCC construction) is most disturbing. Can someone tell me what kind of construction this is?” asked the user.
Another person said, “Legitimately how often is a swimming pool built above the parking garage? Thankful it wasn’t on the top of the building.” Someone else joked, “That wasn’t a very eco-friendly flush.”
The video has unlocked a new fear for many people, especially those who live in buildings with pools or large water tanks above living or parking areas.
While the footage is old, it has resurfaced now and is getting attention again for its bizarre and frightening nature. The post continues to get traction as more people share it online, discussing the risks of weak construction and poor design.
For now, the post serves as a warning — sometimes being “too careful” isn’t paranoia, it’s just good sense.
