Iyer will take on Marketplace CFO responsibilities in addition to his existing roles in Corporate Development, Group Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Investor Relations, and the CEO’s office, the internal mail showed.
“As part of his additional responsibilities, he will work closely with leaders across all the functions and business units and will continue to report to me,” Sriram Venkataraman wrote in the memo.
The appointment is effective immediately and is aimed at strengthening Flipkart’s finance leadership and building deeper collaboration across the organisation to meet its goals for the year, Venkataraman added in the mail.
Venkataraman will continue to serve as CFO of the Flipkart Group. The Marketplace CFO role had been vacant since Sakait Chaudhary, who previously held the position, was promoted to Marketplace lead. Since then, Venkataraman had been managing both the Group CFO and Marketplace CFO roles.
Flipkart did not respond to Moneycontrol’s queries on the development.
As part of the organisational changes, Kannan Ganesan, Vice President – Business Finance Head, Amit Sood, Business Finance Head – eKart, and Ashish Surana, Lead – FP&A, Flipkart, will now report to Iyer, effective immediately.
Iyer has been with Flipkart for over 11 years, while Venkataraman has been part of the company for nearly a decade.
These changes come amid growing competition in the e-commerce and quick commerce sectors and coincide with Flipkart’s ongoing process of shifting its domicile from Singapore to India in preparation for a planned IPO.
