Iran’s missile scatters cluster bomblets over Israel — what they are and why they’re risky
Iran launched a ballistic missile at Israel that released around 20 small explosive submunitions, or cluster bomblets, over a populated area in central Israel on Thursday. According to the Israeli military, the missile’s warhead broke apart at an altitude of about seven kilometres and dispersed the bomblets across an area spanning roughly eight kilometres.
One bomblet hit a residential building in the town of Azor, causing damage but no reported injuries. Many bomblets did not explode on impact. The Israeli Home Front Command said it recovered and neutralised at least 20 unexploded submunitions and warned civilians not to approach missile fragments, as these could still be dangerous.
PSU bank, auto stock gains lift Nifty above key 25,000 level
The Nifty 50 index closed above the 25,000 mark on Friday, lifted by broad-based buying across sectors despite escalating violence in the Middle East.
The Nifty rose 1.29% on Friday to close at 25,112, while the Sensex jumped 1,046 points to end at 82,408. Both the benchmark indices ended the week on a strong note, recovering losses from the previous week, as easing domestic concerns and selective buying helped offset global geopolitical tensions.

After TCS, Cognizant gets Andhra land for 99 paisa
Just a couple of month after selling 21 acres of land to India’s biggest software maker, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), for 99 paise each, the Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh has struck a similar deal with Cognizant, which is headquartered in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Cognizant has promised an investment of ₹1,582 crore over the next eight years in setting up an IT campus with 8,000 jobs in the coastal city of Vishakapatnam, about 600 kilometres from Hyderabad, and 800 kilometres from Chennai, the two of India’s biggest software hubs, aside from Bengaluru.
RBI MPC Minutes | Limited space for more rate cuts in ‘fragile and fluid’ world
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday, June 20, released the minutes of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting held between June 4-6, 2025, shedding light on the rationale behind the 50 basis points repo rate cut to 5.5% and a 100 basis points reduction in the cash reserve ratio (CRR).
While the decision marked the third straight policy rate cut in 2025, the minutes reveal that several MPC members acknowledged diminishing monetary space, even as they advocated timely easing to support growth.
Air India slashes 48 weekly flights; suspends international services to 3 cities including London
Air India on Thursday (June 19) announced a detailed plan to cut back its international flight operations by temporarily cancelling and suspending 48 weekly long and ultra-long-haul flights operated by Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. The reductions will take effect from June 21 and continue until at least July 15, 2025.
The move follows the airline’s decision to implement enhanced pre-flight safety checks across its wide-body fleet—a confidence-building measure taken after the fatal June 12 plane crash in Ahmedabad. These checks, combined with airspace closures in the Middle East and other external operational constraints, have prompted a 15% reduction in wide-body services, the airline said.

Why Dharavi residents are wary of the redevelopment project
The ₹95,000 crore Dharavi Redevelopment Project, billed as the world’s largest urban renewal plan, promises to transform one of Asia’s most densely populated slums into a modern township. But as bulldozers prepare to move in, discontent among Dharavi’s residents is rising.
Dharavi is not just a slum—it is a functioning urban ecosystem. Spread across 251 hectares, it houses homes, workshops, and small businesses packed into narrow lanes and alleyways. The government-approved project, being executed by Navbharat Mega Developers—a joint venture between the Adani Group and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority—has earmarked only 109 hectares for development. The rest is reserved for civic infrastructure like roads, drains, and utilities. So far, ₹4,500 crore has been spent on land acquisition and construction of 1,000 homes on land provided by Indian Railways.
16 billion passwords stolen in what may be the biggest data leak ever

These include login credentials collected from both old and recent data breaches. Together, they form a massive compilation that could be used to access a wide range of online accounts. The number of compromised records has crossed 16 billion.
Russia Warns US Nuclear Strike On Iran Would Be Catastrophic
