The Indian women’s team took a 2-0 lead in the T20I series against England after beating the host by 24 runs at the County Ground in Bristol on Tuesday.
Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur starred with the bat, stitching a crucial 93-run partnership that helped the Women in Blue post 181 in 20 overs.
After being put to bat, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side was in early trouble after losing three wickets in the PowerPlay. Openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana fell early, while skipper Harmanpreet, who returned after a game’s break, departed soon after.

The task then fell on Jemimah and Amanjot to keep the scoreboard ticking. The two resisted the harsh English pace attack and scored half-centuries — the all-rounder notched up her maiden fifty in the format.
Amanjot stayed till the last ball, powering India to a comfortable total, which proved too much for England to chase.
Tammy Beaumont was England’s top-scorer, bringing up her 11th half-century and first since 2022. The host, too, lost early wickets, including one in the very first over.
Apart from the three run-outs that caused England to lose its momentum, Sree Charani struck twice in an over, while Amanjot and Deepti Sharma picked a wicket each to restrict England to 157 for seven.
