Music composer Anirudh Ravichander has shared exciting details about his uncle Rajinikanth’s dance number “Chikitu” in the upcoming film Coolie. In a video released by Sun Pictures, he revealed that fans will witness the superstar’s vintage dance style. Anirudh also shared that the choreography was challenging for the superstar, but he pulled it off.
In the clip, Anirudh can be heard saying, “Rajini sir has a practice where he doesn’t listen to a song before the shoot, except for ‘Hukum’. This time he heard it during the shoot, and from the way we see him perform, we can tell he enjoyed doing it. After the first day of shoot, he said he liked the song, but it would be difficult for him to dance to it, being his old and rugged style of dancing. When we saw the visuals, we were blown away. After 30-40 years, you can see Rajini sir in local tapori style.”
Anirudh Ravichander also appreciated the creative team behind “Chikitu”, especially director Lokesh Kanagaraj, whom he said was a fan of actor and filmmaker T. Rajendar. He also praised choreographer Sandy Master for making the peppy dance number come alive. The music video of “Chikitu” was released earlier this month, and has been making waves online. The music video also has shots from Coolie and features Anirudh, T Rajendar, and lyricist-singer Arivu.
Hamsini Entertainment has acquired the overseas rights of Coolie. On the other hand, Asian Multiplexes Pvt Ltd is handling the Telugu distribution. Coolie is set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14, 2025.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for Jailer 2, which is a sequel to his 2023 hit Jailer.
