At the trailer launch of Son of Sardaar 2 in Mumbai today, amid laughter and celebration, the ensemble cast took a heartfelt moment to remember late actor Mukul Dev, who passed away last month. The film marks his final screen appearance. Ravi Kishan, who is reportedly playing a role that was initially meant for Sanjay Dutt, shared an emotional tribute. He said, “Mukul was very excited for the film. Wherever you are, Mukul, we love you and we miss you. And I would request you all to actually watch this film for Mukul. He was an incredible actor, and today we all are missing him.”
Kubra Sait, who also plays a key role in the film, fondly recalled her memories with Mukul on set. “On the set, Mukul sir used to be the first one coming. He was a very old friend of mine, and in fact, I used to love pulling his leg. In fact, all of us and the director (Vijay Arora) used to pull his leg by saying, ‘Mukul, you are here finally.’ So truly, we all are missing him a lot.”

For those unaware, Mukul Dev was reportedly battling severe loneliness in his final days. The loss of his parents had taken a heavy toll on him, and he deeply missed his daughter. Just days after his passing, his elder brother, Rahul Dev, opened up about his condition. “He was in the ICU for eight and a half days. Medically, it was a result of poor eating habits. In the last four-five days, he had stopped eating altogether. Of course, he felt lonely and lost interest in life. Usko zindagi jeene ka jazba nahi tha… (he didn’t have the willingness to live),” Rahul said.
Mukul Dev was part of several acclaimed Hindi and Punjabi films. His comic role in Son of Sardaar remains a fan favorite. Not many know that he also ventured into screenwriting, he wrote the script for Hansal Mehta’s critically acclaimed film Omerta.
