Akshay Kumar is celebrating Housefull 5’s steady box office run with a special behind-the-scenes treat for fans. On Monday, the superstar shared a video from his dance rehearsals for the film, showing off his energetic moves alongside a choreographer. Despite the film receiving mixed reactions, Akshay is focusing on the highs.
“Still dancing on cloud nine after the incredible response Housefull 5 received this weekend! Thank you for the love and laughs! Here’s a little behind-the-scenes joy from rehearsals,” Akshay captioned the clip.
Fans flooded the comments section with praise. “Sir ji, you always slaying,” wrote one user. Another added, “Khiladi is back!” Some viewers celebrated his return to mainstream comedy, with a fan writing, “So happy for your comeback. Housefull 5 proved that audiences want to see you in commercial films more than content-driven drama.”
However, not all reactions were glowing. Several social media users expressed disappointment with the film’s content. Critics and viewers alike have called out Housefull 5 for its double-meaning jokes, objectification of women, and what they described as an outdated sense of humor. The film has also been criticised for its weak storyline and loud, exaggerated performances.
Despite this, the Tarun Mansukhani-directed comedy continues to perform well at the box office. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Housefull 5 has already earned Rs 87 crore in India. The film opened to an impressive Rs 24 crore on Day 1—outpacing both the previous instalment’s debut and Akshay’s recent releases like Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2.
The upward trend continued, with the second day pulling in Rs 31 crore, taking the film’s domestic total to Rs 55 crore within the first two days alone.
While critics may remain divided, there’s no denying the commercial appeal of the franchise and Akshay’s draw among mass audiences.
