Hollywood’s golden boys, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, sent the internet into a collective meltdown after reuniting publicly for the first time in 24 years. The reunion took place at the London premiere of Pitt’s highly anticipated racing movie F1, where the Interview With the Vampire co-stars embraced warmly on the red carpet, bringing back a wave of nostalgia and renewed fan fervor.
Dressed in a forest green suit and sage scarf, Brad Pitt couldn’t hide his excitement as he spotted Tom Cruise, who looked sharp in a slate grey suit and blue shirt. The two Hollywood heavyweights shared a heartfelt hug and happily posed together for cameras, marking their first red carpet moment together since the 2001 America: A Tribute to Heroes concert.
Since then, both actors have carved distinct paths. Pitt, now 61, has picked up two Academy Awards, while Cruise, 62, has continued his reign as the king of high-octane action with six more Mission: Impossible films under his belt.
Fans have long speculated about a possible onscreen reunion, but Pitt recently joked about Cruise’s signature death-defying stunts. “I’m not gonna hang my ass off airplanes,” Pitt quipped in an interview with E! News, teasing he’d only consider a film with Cruise “when he does something again that’s on the ground.”
Still, Pitt acknowledges the support from Cruise, particularly since their time filming Interview With the Vampire in the ’90s. Reminiscing about their go-kart races on set, Pitt laughed, “He got me in the end, I gotta admit.” Cruise, too, returned the compliment, calling Pitt a natural driver: “Believe me, I’ve raced against him. He’s very good.”
Both actors are now leading major summer blockbusters. Cruise returned as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which broke franchise records with a $200 million global opening and is continuing strong with $540 million in earnings. Meanwhile, Pitt stars in F1, directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer—who also produced Mission: Impossible.
Interestingly, Kosinski had once tried to reunite Cruise and Pitt in his version of Ford v Ferrari, where both actors would’ve done their own driving stunts. The project never materialized, and James Mangold eventually directed the film with Christian Bale and Matt Damon. Now, Pitt gets his moment behind the wheel in F1, a film that Cruise himself has praised.
