The Congress government lacks guts to arrest those guilty in the sensational phone tapping during the BRS regime and there are doubts about the functioning of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into it, said BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao on Friday.
Talking to the media at the State party office, he questioned the delay in taking into remand those responsible for the phone tapping and charged the SIT of ignoring the real victims like him and calling those unconnected like PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud.
The MP claimed that he had complained to the then DGP in 2020 itself during the Dubbak bypoll about the illegal phone tapping and had even given a written complaint but he was not called for any deposition till date. The BJP leader’s contention was that the ruling party is making it look like a ‘Congress v/s BJP’ in the episode instead of trying to get to the bottom of the surveillance of who all were targeted and why by the KCR government.
It has been 18 months since the government initiated probes into phone tapping as well as Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme but there appears be no intent in taking any decisive action by targeting those responsible. The Congress and BRS appear to be having an ‘understanding’ with the government showing no commitment to take probes to a logical conclusion, he charged.
The MP also took objection to the changing of ‘Annapoorna’ canteens to ‘Indiramma’ canteens and said the government has only been focusing on changing names instead of implementing the promised six guarantees during the elections to various sections of the people. He demanded details of how many people have benefited from the ‘Indiramma’ housing scheme and also farmers under the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme.
