
In two separate incidents, two women, both government employees, were reported to have attempted to end their lives in Annamayya district. While one woman died, another incident was averted on time. The incidents came to light on Thursday night (July 10, 2025.)
Surya Rajeshwari (32), who works as an Engineering Assistant at the Balireddypalli village Secretariat in Obulavaripalli mandal of Rajampeta division, allegedly ended her life at her residence in Railway Kodur town on Thursday noon (July 10, 2025). She was a native of Proddatur in Kadapa district but was recently transferred to Sontamvaripalli panchayat in Tsundupalli mandal of Annamayya district.
District Collector Sridhar Chamikuri, who ordered an inquiry into the incident, said she ranked 374 out of 377 in recent counseling, and personal issues might have driven her to take the extreme step. He directed the Sub-Collector and Deputy SP of Rajampeta to submit a report by Monday (July 14, 2025.)
In another incident, Shaikh Haseen Taj, a Deputy Surveyor at Peddamandem mandal, attempted to end her life. Her colleagues rushed her to the Government District Hospital at Madanapalle, where her condition is said to be stable. The family members informed the police that she had been suffering from prolonged ill-health for the last several years. The district Collector has also ordered an inquiry into this incident.
