The Bengaluru stampede occurred on June 4 during the RCB’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations, which were caused by a lack of proper communication and inefficient planning. What began as a joyous occasion quickly turned tragic due to poor crowd management and an inadequate police presence.
In the aftermath of public outrage, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda was suspended. The incident also triggered a shake-up within the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), with two top officials – Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jairam – submitting their resignations on June 7.
A day before the internal meeting, the case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
