Air India Plane Crash News: A London-bound Air India flight crashed near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday, June 12, with initial reports indicating that approximately 242 passengers were on board. Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol, Parineeti Chopra, and other celebs have responded to the tragic accident, praying for strength for the families of the passengers.
Akshay Kumar expressed his disbelief over plane crash in Ahmedabad, and wrote, “Shocked and speechless at the Air India crash. Only prayers at this time.”

Air India Plane Crash Today
The Air India Boeing Dreamliner, en route to London, crashed shortly after departing from Ahmedabad airport. Initial reports indicate that the aircraft went down in a densely populated area near the airport, causing local residents to quickly gather at the scene to assist with rescue operations. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has reportedly travelled from Surat to Ahmedabad to assess the situation. An IANS report mentions that Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the incident with Patel, and the central government has pledged full support in managing the aftermath.
Air India took to X and confirmed the mishap in a post on X. “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025,” the post read.
A note from the Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu read, as per ANI, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Minister of Civil Aviation, Rammohan Naidu, and took stock of the Air India flight crash incident in Ahmedabad. The Minister informed the Prime Minister that he is rushing to Ahmedabad to oversee rescue and relief operations on the ground. The Prime Minister has directed the Minister to ensure all necessary support is extended immediately and asked to be kept regularly updated on the situation. All relevant agencies are on high alert, and coordinated efforts are underway.”
