Kareena Kapoor Khan was spotted arriving at her sister Karisma Kapoor’s residence late Thursday night, hours after the death of Karisma’s ex-husband, industrialist Sunjay Kapur. Kareena, visibly distressed, was joined by her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, as the two offered support to Karisma during this time of grief.
Security around the couple has been notably increased since Saif’s knife attack incident earlier this year. In January 2025, Saif was attacked at his Mumbai residence during what police suspect was an attempted robbery. The actor sustained multiple stab wounds, including one dangerously close to his spine.
On Thursday, Kareena was seen wearing a blue striped shirt and keeping her head down as she exited Karisma’s home, avoiding the cameras. Saif, dressed casually in a dark blue t-shirt and glasses, followed closely behind. Mumbai police personnel were also spotted near the premises as part of enhanced security arrangements.
Earlier that evening, Malaika Arora, along with her sister Amrita Arora and brother-in-law Shakeel Ladak, visited Karisma’s home to offer their condolences. Malaika, dressed in a light beige ensemble, looked solemn as she was seen speaking to family members behind a glass door before stepping out.
Sunjay Kapur, who died in the UK reportedly from a heart attack during a polo match, was 53. He was a well-known figure in both business and elite sports circles. As the chairman of Sona Comstar, he had a significant influence in the automotive industry and was actively involved in motorsports and polo.
Sunjay and Karisma married in 2003 and have two children, Samaira and Kiaan. The couple separated in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2016. He later married model Priya Sachdev in 2017, with whom he had a son, Azarias. He also co-parented Priya’s daughter from a previous marriage.
Just hours before his sudden passing, Sunjay had taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express condolences to the victims of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, writing, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad… May they find strength in this difficult hour.”
