Ronit Roy opened up about his fees for Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
Ronit Roy, a veteran actor with a remarkable presence on both television and film, has shared a candid look into his journey in the entertainment industry. He opened up about the early struggles he faced, including financial hardships and dry spells, despite having worked in television for 6-7 years. His honest account offered a glimpse into the challenges he overcame before achieving success.
In a candid revelation on a podcast with Hindi Rush, Ronit Roy shared that his role as Mr. Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay earned him a modest Rs 1800-2000 per episode, offering a slight respite from his financial struggles. However, despite this boost, financial stability remained an elusive goal at the time.
He shared, “I’m not sure what Shweta Tiwari earned, but my numbers weren’t that great. Even after doing TV for 6–7 years before that, my role of Mr. Bajaj received Rs 1800–2000 per episode. Everything was just hand-to-mouth. I wasn’t really financially stable, but once I started to receive a lot of recognition, my life started to change.”
The actor went on to add, “During the early days of my acting career, I didn’t earn much. It was all hand-to-mouth. After one of my movies, I didn’t receive any work for four months, and I was terrified. I was very young then, and it was a deeply discouraging phase.”
However, Ronit Roy is relieved that those struggling days are behind him. Reflecting on a particularly challenging phase, he shared, “There was a phase in my life where I wasn’t getting work done. In 1995–1996, everything dried up. I made the mistake of signing a project that completely tanked. Whatever respect I had earned began to fade, and because of that, more work stopped coming my way. For a long time, I didn’t get work and I was struggling to pay my bills.”
On the work front, Ronit Roy recently captivated audiences with his portrayal of King Someshwar in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. His nuanced performance brought depth to the character, showcasing the complexities of a ruler torn between duty and fatherhood. However, a dramatic turn of events led to his character’s exit from the show.
