BLACKPINK’s Rose and Bruno Mars continue to make waves with their hit track APT The music video has now crossed 1.8 billion views on YouTube. With this, the song has set a new record and added yet another feather to its growing list of achievements.
According to Soompi, the video hit the 1.8 billion mark on July 10 at around 11:39 AM KST. It was originally released on October 18, 2024. This means it took just over 264 days to reach the milestone.
APT has now become the fastest music video by an Asian artist to hit 1.8 billion views. It is also the fourth fastest track in YouTube history to achieve this figure, following Luis Fonsi’s Despacito, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and Maroon 5’s Girls Like You.
In June, APT had also made headlines for its strong performance on the Billboard Hot 100. At the time, it climbed back to No. 22 in its 32nd consecutive week on the chart. This placed it in direct competition with BTS’s Dynamite, which also spent 32 weeks on the chart. Before this, the longest-charting song by a female K-pop artist was FIFTY FIFTY’s Cupid with a 25-week run.
APT is short for a Korean word that means “apartment.” Rose once revealed that the song was inspired by a popular Korean drinking game where players chant apateu while stacking their hands. The last one to place their hand takes a shot. The track features on Rosie, Rose’s first solo album apart from BLACKPINK.
While focusing on her solo projects, Rose has also reunited with Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo for BLACKPINK’s latest world tour titled Deadline.
The group launched the tour on July 5 at the Goyang Stadium in South Korea. This marks their first full-stage comeback in nearly two years since the end of the Born Pink world tour in September 2023.
BLACKPINK is now set to perform in cities across the world. Their next stops include back-to-back shows in Los Angeles on July 12 and 13, followed by concerts in Chicago on July 18, Toronto on July 22 and 23, and New York City on July 26 and 27.
In Europe, they will perform in Paris on August 2 and 3, Milan on August 6, Barcelona on August 9 and London on August 15 and 16. The tour will then head to Tokyo in January for three shows, followed by a final stop in Hong Kong on January 24 and 25.
