Priya Sachdev opened up about meeting Sunjay Kapur while he was still married to Karisma Kapoor.
Industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise earlier this month shocked many. He passed away after reportedly suffering a heart attack during a polo match at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor, England. Following his death, an old interview with his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, has resurfaced and is now going viral across social media.
In the candid chat with Kin and Kindness on YouTube, Priya opened up about her first meeting with Sunjay while he was still married to Karisma Kapoor. The two, she recalled, met on a flight and began chatting, unaware that their conversation would eventually evolve into a long-lasting relationship.
“I think I was just divorced. I had moved back, and we met through common friends, and we met on a flight, actually, where we started chatting. I knew of him. We knew of each other. We weren’t very close friends, but we just got on a flight. I had a store in Mumbai. I was going for work. He was married, and his wife and children were living in Bombay at the time,” she said.
Priya explained that Sunjay was still in his marriage with Karisma Kapoor at the time, describing it as “not a conventional marriage.” She said he would often travel between Delhi and Mumbai to meet his children. Their bond, which began as friendship, grew stronger after Sunjay’s divorce, leading to their wedding in 2017.
“It was also not a conventional marriage, I would say, but a marriage that he also had two beautiful children from, and we loved them dearly, and today, we are one beautiful family, blended family, but yes, that’s how we met, and we got married in 2017,” she shared.
Sunjay and Karisma had tied the knot in 2002. Their divorce, finalised in 2016, was widely covered by the media due to serious allegations. Karisma accused Sunjay of domestic abuse, while he claimed she had married him only for his wealth. The ex-couple has two children.
