A Bengaluru techie’s brutally honest and witty Reddit post has gone viral for capturing the emotional exhaustion of working from home. Titled “WFH in Bangalore: Wi-Fi stable, but my mental health isn’t,” the post sheds light on the mental strain remote workers often face, resonating with thousands navigating burnout and isolation in India’s IT hub.
The Redditor begins by sharing how they moved to Bengaluru with hopes of a more flexible and relaxed work lifestyle.
“Moved here dreaming of cafe coding. Now I’m working from bed, with my laptop as a hot water bag. Power cuts, noisy neighbours, Zoom fatigue. Tried a co-working space paid ₹9K to hear 10 strangers pitch to VCs,” the user wrote.
“Every day I write code, forget it by evening, and stare into the void during standup. Tech life? More like slow Wi-Fi & existential dread,” they added.

The post struck a chord with others on the platform. In the comments section, many users shared similar experiences, while others offered suggestions on how to deal with it.
One user pointed out, “Who works from cafes, if they actually want to be productive?”
Another questioned, “WFH, right? Why are you in Bengaluru? Move near mountains or beaches.”
“I would suggest moving to areas which are ‘layouts’. They have tree-lined roads, parks and shops, full scenes late at night also. Try joining some clubs or activities to do on weekends. Maybe pick a hobby,” someone recommended.
“You’re not alone, WFH in Bangalore can feel soul-crushing, even when the internet works. The reality is, between power cuts, noise, and isolation, the dream of cosy cafe coding rarely matches up with the daily grind. Sometimes you have to shake up your routine, find new spaces, or just accept that tech life isn’t as glamorous as it looks on Instagram, but you’re not failing for feeling this way,” read another comment.
A person shared, “At the least, you can cater to mental health by staying at home. Imagine how stressed it would feel tackling code & traffic daily for those who are obligated to work from the office.”
“Mate, I’ve been working from home for 5 years now. I understand where you’re coming from. You should try working remotely across locations too, not just cafes. I’ve tried to kill the monotony by working from around the country & even around the world. It definitely helps,” a fellow Redditor suggested.
As per Forbes, the work from home (WFH) setup has been around for almost 30 years, but it became common and widely accepted only after the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, WFH has become a regular way of working for many people around the world.
