As June draws to a close and July begins, preparations are in full swing for the Kanwar Yatra, set to begin on July 11. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this annual pilgrimage during the holy month of Sawan draws lakhs of devotees who participate in colourful rituals and spiritual practices. Amid this massive gathering, a unique story has surfaced from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur division, capturing attention ahead of the yatra.
Lakshmi, a resident of Partapur, Meerut, embarked on the Kanwar Yatra to Haridwar with a special purpose. She undertook this journey to pray for her boyfriend, who has been struggling to secure a job. Lakshmi, accompanied by her friend Mansi, collected 81 litres of Gangajal from Haridwar and is now en route back to her hometown.
Speaking to Local18, Lakshmi shared that her boyfriend aspires to join the Indian Army and has been preparing for the same for the past year but has yet to succeed. Motivated by his dream, she decided to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings during this auspicious period.
Lakshmi’s journey has garnered significant attention and admiration from locals, who have welcomed her warmly at various points along her route. Upon reaching Shiv Chowk in Muzaffarnagar, residents cheered her on and expressed their support.
