Kieron Pollard may have said his farewells to IPL a few years ago but he’s still going strong in the T20 circuit. The Trinidadian cricketer became the talk of the town on Monday during a contest between MI New York and the Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket contest, played at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Texas. Chasing a hefty score of 223/4 set up by the TSK with a top innings of 103 smashed by captain Faf du Plessis, the MINY, in their response, could only manage 184/9 in their designated 20 overs.
So why was Pollard trending on the Indian web despite being on the losing side?
Batting Terror Continues
Pollard was the pick of the batters in the MINY camp, smoking a fiery innings of 70 in just 39 deliveries. His blistering knock consisted of five maximums and five boundaries.
His lone warrior innings reminded several fans, mostly from the Chennai Super Kings clan, of how the 38-year-old all-rounder is still a force to be reckoned with.

“Good thing is that, how he just beat bowlers, not win the match against us, earlier he used to to both, (sic)” a fan from the Super Kings franchise remarked.
It must be noted that despite Pollard’s exploits, MINY have lost six out of seven contests so far in the ongoing season of MLC 2025.
Unhinged Pollard
MINY’s dreadful run in the season has nothing on Pollard as the former West Indies captain now finds him in the second spot of the highest run scorer in T20 cricket, amassing 13,738 runs with his batting exploits. The only batter ahead of him in the elite list of top run scorers in T20 cricket is the legendary Chris Gayle who sits on the throne with 14,562 runs to his name. India’s star batter Virat Kohli is no. 5 on the list, notching up 13,543 runs.
Heartbreak With Ball
Pollard also made news, however, during the losing cause against Seattle Orcas when SO needed 6 off the last ball of the night bowled by Pollard. At crease was Shimron Hetmyer who lived every kid’s dream by smacking a last-ball six to bring his team home.
Chasing MINY’s monumental score of 238, the Orcas were 107/4 in the eighth over when Hetmyer came out.
Heymyer scored a match-winning 97 off just 40 deliveries. His innings was laced with five boundaries and as many as nine towering maximums.
