After Zohran Mamdani’s primary victory in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary, far-right supporters of Donald Trump have begun circulating edited images of the Statue of Liberty wearing a burqa.
The image that has gone viral was shared by Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene. The image is that of the Statue Of Liberty’s Lady Liberty, but a black cloth draped all over her.
The US representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district since 2021 captioned the photo: “This hits hard”.
