It wouldn’t be wrong to say that India’s space sector is rapidly evolving, fueled by strong government backing and impressive technological progress. Showcasing tremendous potential for global recognition, the country recently celebrated a historic milestone as Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to enter the International Space Station as part of the Axiom-4 mission. While Indians continue to celebrate Shukla’s landmark journey, a video of an American woman praising India’s growing achievements in space exploration has also gone viral.
Kristen Fischer, an American content creator, recently shared a video in which she spoke at length about India’s space achievements, describing them as “quite impressive.” Noting that Shukla’s space trip is an “accomplishment in itself,” Fischer went on to outline some interesting facts about India’s space programs. “The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was founded in 1969 and is one of the six space agencies worldwide,” she said in the video.
Fischer also mentioned how India’s Mars mission, Mangalyaan, was the first interplanetary mission and had cost only $74 million.
“To put that into perspective, NASA spent over $1 billion on its first Mars mission. In fact India has also become famous for its low-cost space missions. It was also the first nation to reach Mars on its first try, and the third nation to do so overall,” she continued. The content creator also spoke about India’s Chandrayaan mission, stating that it was the first to detect water molecules on the moon, which she mentioned was also confirmed by NASA.
In what appears to be an appreciation post for India, Fischer concluded by emphasising that the country has made impressive progress.
Further in her caption, she wrote, “India is definitely on track to be a top space power in the world. When people talk about India, they often talk about the underdeveloped parts. They don’t often talk about the parts where India is excelling in technology and worldwide advancement. I think it is worth acknowledging the successes India has had in their amazing space organization!”
The video struck a chord with many, many Indians, who took to the comments section and praised Fischer for her knowledge, while also hailing her love for the country. One wrote, “Well researched information! India has the potential to give its best!!!” while another added, “Your love for India is amazing.”
“Kudos to you, Kristen, for recognising the advancements in our space program! Unfortunately, it’s a topic that resonates with only a few in our vast population of 1.46 billion… and others seem rather oblivious,” another user added.
Interestingly, Kristen Fischer is currently based in India with her husband and their three kids. She frequently documents her life, connecting with many online.
