Amid the ongoing conflict with Israel, Iran has started targeting individuals over alleged espionage for Israel’s Mossad, with the recent execution of three men. The actions come amid the heightened tension and the covert operations between the two countries intensifying. Additionally, Iran has also ramped crackdown on suspected Israeli spies as the government has become paranoid, leading to multiple arrests, public warnings, and appeals for citizens to report suspicious behaviour.
The measures mirror Iran’s heightened anxiety about internal security after Mossad agents recently infiltrated central Iran to smuggle precision-guided weapons and establish a drone base near Tehran. As Iran’s Intelligence Agency continues to identify Israeli spies, a name has recently gained momentum – a female spy who was deployed in Tehran.
Catherine Perez-Shakdam, a French journalist and analyst, entered Iran two years ago as a secret spy. She reportedly infiltrated the internal matters of the country, playing a key role in bringing Israel’s operations to success. But how did Catherine enter Iran? Read on to know more.
More About Iranian Spy Catherine Perez-Shakdam
Catherine was born into a secular Jewish family in France and got married to a Muslim Yemeni man, whom she met at the University of London. Originally from France, she wasn’t just trained but was also smart, beautiful, and bold—eventually fooling Iran’s strict security agencies. She divorced her husband in 2014.
While working as a journalist for state-controlled Russian television station RT in 2017, Catherine started meeting senior Iranian leadership. She even spent time with Ayatollah Khamenei, as well as the former Quds Force Commander Soleimani and the late President Ebrahim Raisi. It was her involvement with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that helped her provide the secrets of the country to the Israeli forces. Based on the information, the Israeli military also launched successful attacks on Iranian commanders, installations, and scientists.
As per The Times of Israel, Catherine has spoken at length on the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling on the UK to proscribe the IRGC as a terrorist organisation. As a former United Nations Security Council consultant on Yemen, she is also known for her work on Islamic terrorism, radicalisation, and antisemitism.
